Ecotourism

What is ecotourism?

The term ecotourism applies to any form of tourism that has the following characteristics:

  1. It revolves around nature and the main motivation of tourists is the observation and appreciation of the natural environment, as well as the traditional cultures prevalent in natural areas.
  2. It includes pedagogical aspects and interpretation of nature.
  3. At destinations, partner service providers must be locally owned small businesses.
  4. Minimizes negative impacts on the natural and sociocultural environment.

It contributes to the maintenance of the natural areas that constitute the ecotourism attraction, since:

  • enhances the awareness of local populations and tourists regarding the importance of the conservation of natural and cultural assets;
  • enhances the recovery of heritage;
  • promotes traditional activities;
  • offers local communities alternative employment and income opportunities;
  • generates economic benefits for host communities, organizations and authorities that manage natural areas for conservation purposes.

Our idea of sustainability

Our notion of sustainability understands the obvious conscious relationship with nature and natural resources, but also sees the importance of the cultural, social and economic reality of the community of which we are part. Therefore, we not only apply measures such as the sensible use of resources but also support the local economy, landscape conservation, the maintenance of agriculture and the conservation of cultural heritage.

100% of our profits are reinvested locally: agriculture and historical heritage.

We have the firm belief that tourism activity has the obligation to positively impact the places where it takes place, both economically and on the quality of life of the people who live there.

Tourist activity in a town like Hermigua must generate wealth: agricultural, scenic, cultural and economic. For this reason, our ultimate objective is not economic benefit per se, it is to return Hermigua, as far as possible, to its time of maximum splendor and demonstrate that another way of doing things is possible.
