It revolves around nature and the main motivation of tourists is the observation and appreciation of the natural environment, as well as the traditional cultures prevalent in natural areas.
It includes pedagogical aspects and interpretation of nature.
At destinations, partner service providers must be locally owned small businesses.
Minimizes negative impacts on the natural and sociocultural environment.

It contributes to the maintenance of the natural areas that constitute the ecotourism attraction, since: 

enhances the awareness of local populations and tourists regarding the importance of the conservation of natural and cultural assets;
enhances the recovery of heritage; 
promotes traditional activities;
offers local communities alternative employment and income opportunities;
generates economic benefits for host communities, organizations and authorities that manage natural areas for conservation purposes.
