It is the second smallest island of the Canary Archipelago, enjoying spring-like weather all year round. The gigantic ravines fall in a starry shape from the Alto de Garajonay (1,486 m), always looking for the coast, ending in cliffs and bays. The origin of La Gomera is volcanic and it has an astonishing variety of vegetation due to its different climatic zones. Discover the island and don't forget your walking boots. Many impressive experiences will be within your reach on this small island.
Coming from San Sebastian, after passing through the tunnel, the road descends from an altitude of 900 m winding through the valley to sea level. Shortly before the coast, it heads towards Agulo. Hermigua is also called the green heart of the island, since here, agriculture represents more than 50% of the banana plantations in La Gomera. Hermigua is a typical Gomera village, made up of small neighbourhoods, 18 in total, spread out across the ravine. Its houses are clustered around two parish churches, the convent of Santa Domingo, and the church of La Encarnación. Young adults gather in its squares during patronal festivals. The centre of the village is around the Town Hall with a small park and all kinds of services (post office, school, car rental, pharmacy, etc.). Above the school, on a charming hillside, is the Ibo Alfaro Rural Hotel.
